Four Agreements, 1 Standing Ovation, and Woo-Stock

Four Agreements, 1 Standing Ovation, and Woo-Stock

It was a big weekend here in the vortex of the Universe. There was an event in San Marcos, which is just 15 miles from Wimberley, called “The Awakening Event.” There were lots of top-notch speakers, including Marianne Williamson, Dan Millman, Jean Houston, Don Miguel Ruiz, and the home team, Joe Vitale.

It was a fun time- and an excellent lesson in how to NOT put on an event. At times, it was so slow that the vendors were trying to sell stuff to each other.

Joe spoke Saturday, to a full room. You’ll find pictures of his (by now customary) standing ovation at the end of this blog post.

Betsy and I showed up early, walked around the woo-woo fest and looked at the booths. As you know, I tend to be skeptical of psychics, mystics and such. Crystals that channel the blessings of the one true Buddha (who looks like a used car salesman) like a short-wave radio are not on my shopping list.

And- let’s be honest about muscle testing. In the ethical hands of a talented healer, muscle testing may work. I can’t testify. Betsy busted a “healer” who had her stand on one leg, hold a crystal, and then totally jerked her off balance.

When dealing with the mystic arts, I think it’s useful to keep an open skepticism. Promiscuous believing of any old B.S. without exploration and testing can lead to disappointment and empty pockets.

Saturday, Dr. Vitale, Craig Perrine, Bill Hibbler and I had an extended Siglo meeting at the Wimberley Brew Pub. When I say “extended,” I mean that I lasted 9 hours, and Bill and Craig were still going strong.

don Miguel Ruiz spoke Sunday, and- as far as I know it was just a coincidence- showed up with his family and a few local followers at the Brew pub. We came down from the cigar room and hung out with them. don Miguel wrote a fascinating book called “The Four Agreements.” There is a local “Four Agreements” group here in Wimberley, and others scattered around the country.

don Miguel is a soft-spoken gentleman with a cool vibe. I pulled out the flip-cam and video’d the conversation- but I’m not sure the audio is gonna work. don Miguel is very soft-spoken.

He and Joe had a fascinating conversation, and we all enjoyed the hang. don Miguel is working, with his son, on a new book- the Fifth Agreement. The fifth agreement has to do with being skeptical and not believing anybody- including him. I can get behind that.

Keep listening. Keep learning. Stay skeptical.

During the early hours of the Siglo meeting, it was just me and Joe. We batted around some ideas for a new product, and he showed me what may be the most powerful sales letter I’ve ever seen.

It was so strong that I borrowed it and typed it out by hand, savoring every word.

We also talked about all the different projects we’re working on, and the challenges we’re facing. I’ll let Joe tell you about his.

In my world, I’ve rented an office and hired a new employee. I may hire another.

2008 was a year of learning, growing, and blood. Between shooting myself, various health tests, and a total knee replacement operation, I’ve seen enough doctors in 2008 to last a few years. Seen enough of my own blood to last the rest of my life.

2009 is shaping up as a year of consolidation.

I started my business five years ago- knowing absolutely nothing at all about what I was doing. I’ve been successful beyond my wildest dreams- and I’ve made a complete mess. I’ve got servers strewn all over the internet, domains, sales pages, and download pages strewn across numerous servers-

I’ve got products, sales pages and download pages out there that I can’t find, have forgotten about, and it’s time that changed.

So, the first chore I put my new employee on was to organize my main server. Put stuff in files that belong in files. Clean up my mess.

It’s time to practice what I teach.

The Portable Empire System is based on building a matrix of passive income generating sites. These sites are much more valuable if they’re organized, and if- using the tools we teach at UnSeminar Elite Workshops- you build an autoresponder series that lets your customers know where these products are.

Duh.

I’ve been so busy cranking out products and putting on seminars that I haven’t taken the time to do that.

So, what’s the marketing lesson?

Do what I say, not what I did.

Explore the magic of your autoresponders.

Build your Portable Empire logically. Install Google analytics on every domain.

Build multiple streams of passive income, and LINK them. (duh). I’m serious. Do what I say, not what I did.

Join me in getting your online house in order.

Last pic- my favorite Joe Vitale book is “The Attractor Factor.

One of the volunteers at the woo-woo fest apparently agrees. I had to document her copy-

(personal note) I’m now walking without a cane. Still have a few weeks of physical therapy to go, but I’m recovering nicely from my surgery. Thanks for all the nice comments.

I’m now gradually switching back into “kick-ass” mode. Stay tuned. UnSeminar 6 is coming. The Portable Empire Mastermind weekend is coming. I’ve made a good start on my new book, and there are several very cool products in the pipeline, including UnSeminar5 videos- with amazing bonuses.

Stay tuned.

I can not believe you got to hang w/Ruiz.
His book rocked my world, but very gently.

Sink that one in awhile and you might become Wordless.
I hope your interview works, and that you share it.

    Hi Pat,

Looks like you had a lot of fun. Everything happens with a purpose. Maybe you needed the time-off, knee surgery provided this. A time to re-group and re-evaluate.

Now the batteries are recharged and you are leaping forward in a quantum step! Well done Pat.

    Rob

I’ve had the pleasure of hearing him speak at Unity of Phoenix several times, and have devoured his books. My best takeaway has been “nothing people do is ever about you, it’s always about them.” Remembering that has saved me from lots and lots of grief and I share it in all my writing and classes. Looking forward to the rest of the story to go with the pix.
